周亞鳴 ZHOU Ya-Ming（1957-）
周亞鳴，中國新文人畫代表，畢業於四川美院，現為中國藝術研究院特聘教授，鎮江美術家協會主席，江蘇省美術家協會理事。
他的創作體現文人畫講究個性的風格特色，用色清雅大方、筆法樸拙自由，題材親切、生活化，擺脫了明清花鳥畫固有的表現形式。觀周亞鳴的繪畫，如賞一盞清茶的層次情趣，在詼諧自在間，不經意的流露隱藏其中藝術慧心。他以最真誠的情感表現，創作出個人風格濃厚、饒富趣味的新水墨。
周亞鳴對中國藝術的學習、研究是多方面的，除繪畫之外，在詩詞、篆刻、書法等領域，都有著深厚的傳統功底。在多年的藝術思索、探求後，周亞鳴「體會到孤芳自賞易，而孤芳共賞難，以其難，所以可貴。」因此，創作一幅雅俗共賞的水墨畫，便成為了他了創作理念，也是其獨到的魅力所在。
ZHOU Ya-Ming is a leading figure of China’s New Literati Painting. A graduate of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, he is currently a Distinguished Professor at the China National Academy of Arts, Chair of the Zhenjiang Artists Association, and a council member of the Jiangsu Artists Association.
His work reflects the literati emphasis on individuality: a refined, understated palette; unaffected, freehand brushwork; and approachable, everyday subjects that break with the established modes of Ming–Qing bird-and-flower painting. Viewing Zhou’s paintings is like savoring a cup of fine tea—layered and nuanced. Within their easy humor and calm, an alert artistic intelligence emerges. With sincere feeling, he has forged a highly personal and engaging approach to contemporary ink.
Zhou’s study and research in Chinese art are wide-ranging. Beyond painting, he has a solid classical foundation in poetry, seal carving, and calligraphy. After years of reflection and exploration, he has “come to realize that appreciating one’s own virtues is easy, but inviting others to share in them is hard; it is precisely this difficulty that makes it valuable.” Creating ink paintings that speak to both connoisseurs and a broad public has therefore become his guiding principle—and a distinctive source of his appeal.
