Hsieh Jung-Wei artist statement
Artist statement:
———Papers are like desert, when leaps to the eye is a complete barrenness.
I am seeking a prairie on the paper, grassing on the paper, be a gardener on the paper, planting grass with each step I make. I do not know how far this journey will be. I was lost on the paper once, but every time when I am at the end of the paper, I would look back, and I realised that everywhere I walked is a prairie.
To me, karma is a circulation instead of a linear relationship between actions and results. I believe the existence of prairie so I search for it, however, the existence of prairie is not real. Because of my belief, it led me into growing a prairie, so prairie exist based on my belief. My works is a journey of faith, which makes prairie extend and creates karma.
I poured in a considerable amount of time on my creation, using a single movement to repeat and record to present a form of strength. People are attracted by my works because that is what we all have experienced or are experiencing.
