張振宇，畢業於國立臺灣師範大學美術系、美國紐約州立大學藝術研究所，成為紐約州立大學創校以來首名獲得全額獎學金的華人。曾任臺北市立美術館館長，現為專職藝術家。

張振宇：「每一個生命都是宇宙反觀自照的一種方式，宇宙生命以此自我實踐，成就無限可能」。一個人的終極關懷與意義為何？歷經數十載的藝術征途，張振宇以創作作為他的回應，自覺身為藝術家的天職，即是將對世界的看法化為真實，張振宇化身藝術的菩薩，於天地揮舞筆彩，結合圖像以及對量子力學的專研，開創屬於他的當代佛教藝術法界。

十多年前，張振宇放棄臺灣的一切，赴北京閉關創作《量子臉書》系列。以數位時代中「臉」作為溝通媒介的概念為引，結合佛學所謂六根（眼、耳、鼻、舌、身、意）匯聚於臉的觀點，形塑出以臉為感知與交流載體的創作核心。

《量子臉書》系列中，每件作品皆呈現一張獨特的臉，透過多層次的堆疊與古典、現代元素的交融，蘊藏豐富訊息，等待觀者解讀。

融合佛學與量子力學的思考，張振宇提出「終極實相為疊加態」的觀點——當意識介入世界，現實即以個人認知的方式顯現，萬象並非單一，而是多重交疊的存在。他亦視此系列為自身生命的見證，如佛經所言「如是我聞」，將所理解的真實轉化為藝術表達。

作為藝術家與信仰者，張振宇以當代語彙回應敦煌藝術的精神理想，開展出一種嶄新的當代佛教藝術面貌。

CHANG Chen-Yu graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University and the Graduate Institute of Art at the State University of New York. He is the first Chinese recipient of a full scholarship since the university’s founding. He previously served as Director of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and is currently a full-time artist.

CHANG Chen-Yu states, “Every life is a way in which the universe reflects upon itself, unfolding infinite possibilities.” After decades of artistic pursuit, he responds to the question of life’s ultimate meaning through his practice. He sees the artist’s calling as transforming one’s vision of the world into tangible form. Like a bodhisattva of art, he wields brush and color across heaven and earth, integrating imagery with his study of quantum physics to shape a distinctive realm of contemporary Buddhist art.

Over a decade ago, CHANG Chen-Yu left everything behind in Taiwan and went into seclusion in Beijing to develop his Quantum Facebook series. Drawing on the idea of the face as a primary medium of communication in the digital age, he integrates the Buddhist concept of the six senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, and consciousness—converging in the face, establishing it as the core vehicle for perception and exchange in his work.

In the Quantum Facebook series, each piece presents a distinct face. Through layered compositions that interweave classical and contemporary elements, the works are embedded with rich visual and conceptual cues, inviting interpretation.

Bringing together Buddhist thought and quantum physics, CHANG proposes that ultimate reality exists in a state of superposition. When consciousness engages with the world, reality manifests according to one’s perception; it is not singular, but composed of overlapping possibilities. He regards this series as a testimony of his life’s journey—echoing the opening line of Buddhist sutras, “Thus have I heard”—through which he translates his understanding of reality into artistic form.

As both an artist and a devoted practitioner, CHANG Chen-Yu reinterprets the spiritual aspirations of Dunhuang art through a contemporary language, opening up a new vision of contemporary Buddhist art.
