江明德 cHIANG ming-teh（1931-1994）
江明德六十三年的生命中，歷經一段顛沛流離的時代；以其在繪畫上的天分與執著，終而驗証了他自己的期許「放之於千古而健行，置之於隅落仍燦爛」。生命的後期雖長年為疾病所擾，然終其一生為自己的信念而踽踽獨行，孜孜於藝術和文學的鑽研而不墜。
Throughout his sixty-three years of life, CHIANG Ming-Teh endured a turbulent era marked by displacement and hardship. With his innate talent and unwavering dedication to painting, he ultimately fulfilled his own aspiration: “To stride steadfastly through the ages, and to remain radiant even when placed in the most obscure corner.”
In the later years of his life, although he suffered from prolonged illness, he persisted in walking his path alone, steadfast in his beliefs. He devoted himself tirelessly to the pursuit of art and literature, never allowing his commitment to waver.

江明德的創作，從｢不是一座山；不是一棵樹，乃在山與樹之間。｣的意象，衍出生命的動感與多彩。畫作中意含著風雲水漾的波動，吐納淋漓盡致的色彩哲學。在天人合一的轉寰中，以蒼勁的樹姿勾勒出畫家迂迴的人生和堅毅的意念。病逝後留下近千幅的創作，並有巨篇「歷史與傳說」的藝術理論及手稿。
CHIANG Ming-Teh’s artistic creation unfolds from the imagery of “not a mountain, not a tree, but something in between.” From this, he evokes the dynamism and rich vitality of life. His paintings are imbued with the undulating rhythms of wind, cloud, and flowing water, expressing a philosophy of color with unrestrained intensity.
Within the shifting harmony between heaven and humanity, the vigorous forms of trees delineate the artist’s winding life path and resolute spirit. After his passing due to illness, he left behind nearly a thousand works, along with the monumental artistic treatise History and Legends and its manuscripts.
重要簡歷 Selected Biography
1931 出生於廈門。
1938 江明德二叔・江文也先生為知名音樂家曾獲國際音樂大獎。
1946 隨父親江韻鏗先生來臺灣定居，初居淡水三芝，就讀於淡江中學。
1950 首次入選省展。
1953 考入臺北師範學院藝術系（今國立臺灣師範大學美術系），師承廖繼春。
1955 任教於建國中學（南勢角分校）。
1956 任教於基隆市一中（今銘傳中學），並與師大同班同學汪壽寧結婚。
1957 罹患臉部神經痲痺症。
1959 回基隆市一中任教。
1960 於住所聚集文人李哲洋、林絲緞、謝里法、馬水龍、許伊帆等人討論藝術。
1962 任國立藝專（今國立臺灣藝術大學）講師，開設「海雲閣」畫廊，經營三年。
1966 赴日本東京國立教育大學進修，並取得碩士學位。
1967 回臺進入國華廣告，擔任廣告人三年。
1969 臉部神經痲痺舊疾復發，回嘉義住所療養。
1971 任教於臺南家專（今臺南女子技術學院）、健行工專（今健行技術學院）、銘傳商專（今銘傳大學）等。
1973 卸下公職，專心創作，同年於國立臺灣博物館館舉辦首次個展，臺北，臺灣。
1974 於哥雅畫廊舉辦個展，並辭去所有教職。
1975 與許伊帆、余弘毅等於哥雅畫廊舉辦《散散展》聯展，臺北，臺灣。。
1985 開始《歷史與傳說》的寫作，幾近放棄繪畫。
1993 代表江文也先生家屬到總統府受獎。
1994 因心臟手術與病魔掙扎四個多月；10月31日病逝於榮總，於告別式之同時舉行小型紀念展。
2002 於鳳甲美術館舉辦《冷傲的蒼松－江明德的繪畫語言》個展。作品〈隙〉於官邸展出至 2005年。
2005 國立交通大學以及霍克國際藝術舉辦《江明德回顧展》，展出作品百餘件 。
2006 國立歷史博物館舉辦《瞬間的永恆－江明德先生紀念展》，臺北，臺灣。
2015 《樸真年代：張萬傳、張祥銘、江明德、汪壽寧》經典聯展，名山藝術，新竹，臺灣。
